First Trailer Released for Andy Serkis’s “Animal Farm” Animated Film

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, the first trailer for the cinematic adaptation of George Orwell’s classic novel “Animal Farm,” directed by Andy Serkis, has been unveiled. The film, which has been in development for nearly 15 years, received initial negative feedback as the trailer appeared to bear little resemblance to Orwell’s original novel.

Orwell’s dystopian novella, published in 1945, tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human owner in hopes of achieving equality, freedom, and happiness. This classic work was named one of the 100 best English-language novels by Time magazine (up to 2005) and is a Hugo Award winner. The novel was previously adapted into a feature film in 1954 and a television movie in 1999.

The star-studded voice cast includes Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani. In addition to directing, Serkis will also provide the voice for one of the characters.

Nicholas Stoller penned the screenplay for Serkis. The project, which was previously set to be developed for Netflix, is being produced by Adam Nagle, Dave Rosenbaum, and Jonathan Cavendish.

Angel Studios is scheduled to release Animal Farm in theaters on May 1, 2026.
